Living Intentionally

The more aware I become of my situation, the more room I am finding for intention. When I say intention I mean consciously pursuing or seeking. Everyone behaves in a manner of seeking. Some seeking is the result of addiction, some are unconscious desires, and others are actively pursued for an end result. The anxiety that insecurity brings, the expectations brought upon us, and the speed at which life moves leaves little room to consider. How an individual devotes their time, the end to their means, is a reflection of the world they perceive.

Sometimes I feel like there is a “lag” between action and reaction that goes unnoticed. The easiest way for me to describe this is through the notion of generations. Generations are recognized periods of time that those before us have experienced, and then are subsequently taught to and interpreted by all future generations. If the pursuit of luxury and power is glamorized by television and reinforced through mere inescapability then a generation is born of these principles.

We all inherit the world that came before us and are left to decide how to spend our time. We do not choose the life we are born into. If we are able to admit that we are conscious, then we are admitting to having the ability to affect the life we live.  As I live and learn, I encounter people in their present state. The consistent themes I observe are sincere and shared by everyone: insecurity and a desire to resolve it. Living intentionally is a personal commitment to include others in your pursuit. Reciprocation is all we can ask for.
