I am continually amazed at the depth of the human condition; the moment you connect at a deep level with another person, you realize the infinite complexity of society. Every single person is a sum of all their experiences. However, we too often prefer topical relationships and rely heavily on stereotypes to define and characterize people. We count them out before we’ve even given them an opportunity to impress us.
The human spirit is a fragile thread that gives form and function to each life. It can be severed or strengthened in a single blow. Our words and actions have resounding effects on the spirit of those we interact with. Being kind is not enough. We need to listen and encourage; we need to stand up and be intolerant of discrimination and subversion.
